Distortion Test (AATCC-179, Option-2)

Purpose

Ø To measure the warp way movement or skewness of fabric this distortion method is applied.

Method

Ø Draw a parallel line along with the selvedge apart from 20cm or 6’’ from each selvedge.

Ø Draw three square diagonally which have 25cm length of each arm.

Ø Draw three squares diagonally means draw three square in the left, middle & right side of the fabric.

Ø Join the diagonal line of each square.

Ø Make the square as A1B1C1D1, A2B2C2D2 and A3B3C3D3.

Ø Wash the fabric with 3HL.

Ø Measure the movement by the following formula.

Ø Result is read off as percentage.

Formula

Ø (A1C1-B1D1/ A1C1+B1D1) x 100 = X1 (Left)

Ø (A2C2-B2D2/ A2C2+B2D2) x 100 = X2 (Middle)

Ø (A3C3-B3D3/ A3C3+B3D3) x 100 = X3 (Right)

Result

Ø Noted if the three squares X1, X2 & X3 Distortion result is same or near to same fabric have no distortion.

Ø Point should be noted that the difference between X1, X2 & X3 should be not to be more than 3 %.
